The Galapagos Islands are small, but there are some beautiful hotels and a few small resorts here.

Hotel Galapagos

This is the original hotel on the Galapagos Islands. Situated just outside Puerto Aroya, the Hotel Galapagos sits on five acres and has its own private nature reserve. On this nature preserve, visitors will get an up-close look at the wildlife for which the Galapagos Islands are famous. The hotel is a short walk from town and the Charles Darwin Research Center. Hotel Galapagos is renowned for its reliable service, delicious meals, and relaxed atmosphere. There a number of activities and day trips offered by the hotel, as well. Visitors should expect to pay between $70 and $115 a night.

Finch Bay Hotel Resort

The Finch Bay Hotel is located on Santa Cruz, a short distance away from the Charles Darwin Research Center. The highlight of this resort is the variety of Darwin’s finches, the type of birds on which much of Darwin’s research focused. The Finch Bay Hotel is the only hotel on Santa Cruz that sits along the beach, which gives guests easy access to water activities, such as snorkeling or diving. There is also swimming either in the ocean or at the hotel’s beach-side pool. Day cruises to the other islands are available, as well. The resort is located near nesting areas for many of the island’s bird species. Nightfall brings the spectacular site of thousands of birds returning to their nests, as well as the hundreds of nocturnal birds beginning to stir. The cost of a room for the night, which includes breakfast and shuttle service, is $238. Different package options are available.

Red Mangrove Inn

The Red Mangrove Inn sits in a grove of wild red mangrove, very close to the sea, creating a stunning display of colors. It is close to Puerto Aroya and the Charles Darwin Research Center. The inn can accommodate up to 38 guests at a time, but the rooms can sleep different-sized parties (one room sleeps up to 8 people). Most of the rooms have an ocean view and all have private baths. Room rates are based per person, ranging from $88 to $205.
